I'm not sure why you want to do this, but given the Epson has a monitor output I don't think you need the splitter. The Epson manual (Pg 22, See link) says you must have the computer connected and turned on but might still not be able to see an image on an LCD monitor. It says you need to use a multisync monitor and make sure the computer is set to a refresh rate of 65 Hz or higher. This implies the expectation is that you will use a LCD monitor, not a flatpanel TV. That said, some flatpanels can act as computer monitors if you use the right input and settings.

I suggest, verifying the refresh rate of the computer, checking you have the output connected to the right input on the TV and make sure the menu settings are correct to allow the TV to be used as a computer monitor. The quickest way to check the latter is to connect the computer direct to the TV. If you get a picture then try putting the projector in the chain, but if not you either can't use the TV that way or still don't have the correct settings.

Hope that helps.

Comment on Bose® CineMate® GS Series II Digital Home Theater Speaker System by Chris J. Kallin

Bose products sound terrific. No questioning that. When you use products as they were designed, they're spot-on. So my only criticism of this system probably isn't exactly fair, but the system has no headroom at mid-to-high volume in such a way as to double as a stereo system per-se. Besides the learning remote, the other reason I upgraded to the GS is that it had RCA inputs in the back to jump in my iPhone. It works fine, but at mid-to-high volumes, like for a party or something, it sort of peters out. You can tell the headroom is missing and that there isn't much in the middle-range with respect to fidelity. It offers very crisp highs and warm lows, but no midrange to speak of and no truly thunderous bass. If you want a system that performs well in both arenas, you might be well advised to build a component system. For the record, I'm not unhappy, just a little underwhelmed.

The other criticism is really only a suggestion for Bose... If I have the optical connection hooked to my cable box and I want to watch a DVD, I have to move the optical connection from my cable box to my DVD player and back every time. It's sort of maddening. There must be a work-around for this that I haven't stumbled upon. In the future though, I would suggest that Bose add two (perhaps even three to account for ROKU type streaming device) optical inputs since most people run multiple sources.

Despite the negativity, I will say that this system is a HUGE improvement over the sound emanating from your TV speakers. And I love using just one remote now... the learning remote supplied with the system is quite intuitive and easy to set up. Lastly, the system is up and running within minutes of being unboxed. They've made it idiot proof. Nice job all around. Just make sure you're buying it for the right purpose and don't have unreasonable expectations. If you follow this advice and buy anyway, you'll be very satisfied.

I've been a Bose fan over the years, having owned the Bose 901's, 501's, Accoustomass 5 Series II system, and most recently, the Bose noise cancelling headphones - all speakers and the headphones met or exceeded my expectations. However, the Bose GS series II system has been an immense disappointment. The quality of sound is mediocre, and I would have returned the system had I purchased directly from Bose and not from Amazon. With the exception of a bit more bass, there is no noticeable difference from the Bose GS Series II speakers to the sound produced from my Sony 46inch XBR TV speakers. Sorry Bose - I'd like to endorse this product but cannot do so. I'd recommend consumers save the $799 for the GS series II and look for other options.

I am not usually huge Bose fan, decided to try the Cinemate 2.1. Simple to connect to TV/AT&T cable box. I actually also connect earphone jack to RCA cable to my iPhone to listen to music, actually sounds quite good. Overall the Cinemate works rather well. Read and follow the setup documentation to get the best sound.

all projectors require cooling time, some projectors have built in timers between when they turn the lamp off and when the system powers down the fan used to cool the lens. If you are smelling something burning when you try to run the projector there is definitely something wrong with the projector, stop trying to turn it on, get it serviced. Any local electronics repair shop should be able to do that for you, at $60 to $100 an hour for the repairs...

You probably will have to have it replaced by an authorized NEC repair center. If you call NEC they will put you in touch with a repair center who will give you an estimate. Projectors are generally not easy to work on. It may end up being very expensive so be aware that your best option may be just to replace the projector. The good part is that they are getting much cheaper.

3 projectors yes, but not necessarily 3 macs! If your Mac has multiple graphics cards (our video Mac at work has 2 dual graphics cards, so 4 outputs) then QLab will happily run multiple outputs. We're running 4 screens off it at the moment - 1 screen for the operator with all the QLab information on it, and 3 different video feeds. I'm not sure what QLab's maximum output number is, but it certainly copes with four! Just be aware that this is running on a MacPro with something like 5GB of RAM and 2 dual-core processors - you need some big computing power to ake everything run properly and smoothly!
