How can I watch tv on my projector?
I currently have a Projector (NEC) and speakers for a surround system. Is there some sort of receiver that will allow me to A: hook up my surround sound, and B: allow me to watch TV on the projector? I have previously used a VCR, but that is more like a temporary solution. I want something a little better than that.
You must use something that has a TV tuner in it. LIke a VCR or Reciever. You can even use your computer if it has a TV tuner in it.
Of course you can watch tv on a projector. Well it all depends. Does your projector accepts s-video/component/composite video signal? Even HDMI?
Well if it does. Then just grab a satellite or a cable box. Then hook them up to your projector. You can’t get anything good for free now a days. You have to spend money to watch cable tv/satelite tv.
your best and simple connection would be to run a composite(yellow cable) from source to projector then run a red and white audio cable from source to sound system.
Your projector should have a VGA input (15 pin) which is what you want to use if you can. The object of a projector is to show a large image and using S video, or even worse, composite (yellow) will not provide a very good picture. Just purchase a VGA to component adapter and plug the VGA into your pj and the component (red/blue/green) into your cable box or whatever source you are getting your TV from.

However, since these are expensive if you go more than 3 ft just use barrel connectors to link the component side of the cable to a regular old component cable.
Of course audio is run from the source to your stereo receiver.
hope this helps,
