Question by Matt: Does anyone know if a gaming system can connect with a “Durabrand STS92 DVD Home Theater System”?
Hi, I’ve been thinking about buying a Durabrand STS92 Home Theater System for my room, and i was was wondering if i could hook up my gaming system to it. I don’t think i can run it through a TV though, or i might lose the surround sound, so does anyone who has it know if it has inputs in the back for a gaming system as well as outputs for the TV? Thank You!

Matt

Hey Matt, if you check out the following look and read under specifications for the system here : http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4810706

It says that it does accept Audio/Video input. I can only assume that it’s the yellow/red/white plugs normally associated with video games. So you should be fine.

I’ll tell you though that the specs also say it’s pumping about 100 Watts which is uber small. If you can scrounge up some more bucks, I’d go with a cheaper mainstream receiver and cheap speakers. Definetely more bang for the buck.

Are LCD projectors that much worse than DLP, or is it just hype? Anyone happy with their LCD projector?

I am going to get a low end home theater projector.

I looked at the infocus in72, optoma h27, toshiba tdp-et## (forget the model) and the epson home 20.

The DLP seems to get better reviews for black but they are much lower in lumens. Also the 300-400 replacement dlp bulb really scares me.

The epson seems to have better colors, higher light output. $200 bulbs and much more flexible positioning. I like the idea of putting the projector on the coffee table instead of behind or on the ceiling. I figure that I my Wii, home theater pc and dvd player in the coffee table as well.

What worries me is the test that Texas Instruments did that showed that LCDs are really prone to burning out their colors. But the test was a little extreme. 24/7 operation for 2 months.

Anyone else have an epson powerlite home 20, 30s or something similar with an lcd prjector and are happy with it?

I don’t want to go 720p or higher for another 2-3 years.
I have alot of Epson stuff other than projectors and have always been happy with their quality.

I need help mounting a front end projector in my apartment. Will this idea work well enough? anyone else try?

I picked up a Viewsonic PJ506D projector with a free 80″ screen and ceiling mount. I live in an apartment and don’t want the landlord freaking out when they walk in and see a projector hanging from the ceiling.

Seeing as I no longer need or want an “entertainment center”, I got this idea about how to mount it. Buy a end table sized “entertain center” to store my Dvd, Wii and HTPC in. Attached a stained to match 1×4 to the “entertainment center. with a shelf hanging out on top of the 1×4 near the ceiling. the then mount the projector on the underside of the raised “platform as if it were the ceiling. I could then duct the wired back down and into the base. I would then put in between two of the viewing chairs as a end table.

Has anyone else ever seen someone do this. I would feel more confident modding an endtable if I have seen pics of someone else doing it.

think it will work?

Epson Dreamio projector LED suddenly very poor color, mostly green & yellow, has anyone had this happen?

It was working fine, and the bulb is fairly new. It has been extremely humid where I live. Suddenly when I use the projector the image is really green and yellow. I am really hoping this isn’t a permanent problem, I can’t even compensate with the internal color correction to get a proper image.

So I got my hands on a dehumidifier, hoping that helps. But does anyone have experience with this sort of problem, and any ideas how to fix it?

I was in CompUSA and they had a Viewsonic Mini Projector that was under $500.00. Problem is that is discontinued. I need to buy one pretty quick and cant seem to find one. I need it to be very small. Any suggestion where I should look? I looked at Office Depot, Staples, Best Buy.
