is there a difference between a video movie projector and a presentation projector?

Question by Surgical 1: is there a difference between a video movie projector and a presentation projector?
1. set up in the home on a table or mouted to the ceiling style projector

2. a super light weight projector you take with you connect to your laptop and show business meeting slides and video

is there a difference
I am looking for a movie projector that I can connect to my laptop and play dvds on it and play them at home or should i get the style that stays in the house and is connected to my stereo and dvd player

what would
you recommend for system in which i could do both

which is cheeper

what brand/model would you suggest i can get with great displays for under a grand.

Yes. A projector made specifically for presentations will not be a good substitute for a video movie projector. Although you can use a small lightweight projector used specifically for movies to do presentations on.

I want to project a movie with my new video iPod and a projector, BUT outdoors with no electrical outlet. How?

Question by lb: I want to project a movie with my new video iPod and a projector, BUT outdoors with no electrical outlet. How?
I need a cheap way to get a projector (I’m thinking InFocus or ViewSonic) hooked up to my iPod so that I can view a movie on a wall (or other flat surface) outdoors, but I may be in a situation where there is no near-by power outlet. I’ve thought about hooking it up to my car’s lighter power adaptor or to a generator/ battery…. but don’t know much more than that. Ideas??

You need an inverter to convert DC to AC. I would suggest possibly renting a small portable generator. Get a 50 – 75 foot extension cord and run it the full length. Place the generator as far from the projector as possible (noise issues) and it should be fine. Some generators are pretty quiet and cheap to rent from home depot or hardware store.
