From the supplier: Horry-Georgetown Technical College is using Sharp Electronics Corp's XV-P10U portable LCD projector in classes, meetings and teleconferences. The projector costs approximately $2,000 and includes a three-watt audio system and full-range speaker. Its single-lens projects images from distances between 30 and 100 feet diagonally. It is also able to support multiple S-VHS equipment, such as VCRs, video cameras and videodisc players. Its light weight of nine pounds makes it easy to carry and set up. The college has also used the XV-P10U to project public service meetings, courses, and educational programs from satellite and television. LCD Projectors-a Technological Boon

Images are of paramount importance in a man’s life. An image is the building block of our thought process. We never think in words or sentences, but in images and pictures. When we tend to recapitulate any past incident, it is some fragmented images that flashes back in our mind. And, when we speak of images, one can’t tend to overlook the importance of projectors.

LCD projectors give a new dimension to images. Whether it is the correct positioning or ensuring the correct visibility, there is probably no better option than LCD projectors when it comes to making an image more scalable.

Scaling happens to be an important criterion that determines the perfection of an image. It may be defined as the process of converting an input image into its native output. To be explicit, the format of resolution varies widely from one LCD projector to another. If you are using a computer with SVGA resolution and plug it with a XGA projector, the projected image is bound to loose its luster and sharpness. This error can be overcome if your projector has high capacity to scale images correctly. Nevertheless, it is always advisable to maintain a resolution that is in conformity with the resolution of our computer. That would help the projected image from getting blurred.

It is not only the resolution of you computer but the purpose of your presentation that should be considered while fixing the resolution of your LCD projector. If you are demonstrating some PowerPoint presentation, the SVGA resolution LCD projector would work fine. But if it happens to be some numeric data in excel sheet or if you are illustrating some detailed graphic of highly technical nature, you should better go for an XGA format.

There are certain other features you should put a checklist while buying an LCD projector the most important being keystone correction. If a projector is not placed at the central position, chances are that the image would be distorted. The keystone correction feature helps in overcoming this fallacy and ensures correct positioning of the images.

Your projector should ideally have loop-through. This feature lets you attach the projector to other devices like the monitor. This helps you view the projected image in the computer screen itself without having to turn back to the audience every time you project an image.

One of the most important advantages is that projectors are highly portable which makes it quite convenient to use. The standard LCD projector weight prevailing in the market is five pounds and even lighter projectors are available. One should particularly ensure that the projector you buy should have the feature of ceiling mounting as an additional option. This particular feature enables you to reverse the projected image and is particularly useful for illustrating charts and diagrams.

The usage of LCD projectors has gained momentum over a period of time. High end digital projectors are now widely used in offices, home theaters. Modern lightweight LCD projectors can be connected with computers, video players as well as other media devices. It is a great instrument that fosters communication and is definitely an impetus towards further development of the society.
