Home Theater Sound System – Some Great Tips

By: David Patullo
Posted: Jul 17, 2009

The sound system setup could make or break the performance of a home entertainment center.  Therefore, you need to pay close attention to the home theater sound system of the setup you may be considering for you and your family’s total enjoyment.

The best way to test a home theater sound setup is well through your ears.  Do not rely on descriptions or specs cited in product brochures alone.  Bring your own discs to the store so that you can play and listen to the music you’re accustomed with.  Through this familiar playback, it will be a lot easier for you to decide the best home theater sound system suited to your requirements. You will also need a DVD with some heavy bass action.  Crank up the system’s subwoofer at the volume levels you’d like to hear or could bear with at home.

You should likewise examine closely the room where the home theater system will operate.  What are the audio-video equipment units that will be assembled there, and where are each component’s specific placements?  Will these fit the available space?  It’s useless to purchase for a 7.1 channel system, for instance, if you’ve got a cramped space which wouldn’t allow two extra surround speakers.  Measure the home entertainment area as a reference guide when you go shopping and checking for the appropriate home theater sound system.

Consider also the remote controller.  Pick those with a good lay out for finding the right buttons at the right time. .  This will help you avoid surprises in dim light conditions.

Digital Projector Help- Some Tips for Digital Projectors

by Rosa Say

Digital Projector Help- Some Tips for Digital Projectors

Digital projectors are equipments of modern technology. These are used to convert image data directly from the computer onto a screen via lens system. Digital projectors provide visualization of data which is in fact stored in a pc for presentation. These projectors enable the viewers to watch moving images from a DVD, digital versatile disc player. Advertisers or sellers also use these projectors to give demonstration of products to a significant number of consumers. It can quickly convert written documents onto an interactive whiteboard.

Digital projectors play an critical role within the formation of property theater systems. These projectors use resolution of SVGA standard i.e. 800?¡§¡é600 pixels in pricey devices. Cost of digital projector is determined by its resolution as well as its brightness. If you’re going to use it in significant rooms or huge conference halls its brightness should be from 1,000 to 4,000 ANSI lumens.

1st digital projectors, Eidophor projectors were introduced in 1950. Eidopher projectors employed an oily surface in a rotating disk with light shining by way of it and employed an electron beam to disrupt oil in a particular manner. Eidophor projectors were not able to produce colors. Nowadays you’ll find several high quality models of digital projectors are accessible in market so Eidopher projectors are much less widespread.

Following four technologies are employed in digital projectors:

High intensity CRT

LCD projectors making use of LCD light gates

Texas Instruments’ DLP technology

Eidophor oil-film projectors (obsolete)

At present LCD projectors use Texas Instruments’ DLP technology whereas the high intensity CRT devices are suitable for enduring installations. Entire working of cathode ray tube digital projectors is like CRT television set. These projectors could be configured with one RGB color tube that has three colors red, green and blue with a single lens, one black & white tube with a rotating color wheel or three RGB color tubes with 3 lenses. Projectors having cathode ray tubes are usually bulky thats why these are the best projectors for fixed installations.

LCD digital projectors are portable and lighter enough in comparison to CRT and can be easily shifted from one place to another. These are very much popular and available in various shapes and sizes. CRT and LCD digital projectors come under the category of transitive projectors.

Reflective projectors are the superior digital projectors that provide high quality images. These are affordable and offer next level of entertainment. Everyone can enjoy residence theater applications with the help of digital projectors.

Projector Installation tips, Great advise for DIY ceiling mounted projector installations

by jisc_infonet

Projector Installation tips, Great advise for DIY ceiling mounted projector installations

I should begin by advising that in all projector installations it is always advisable to contract a professional Audio Visual Installation company.

The first things to consider whilst preparing to complete a ceiling mounted projector installation is what size image do you want to project and what surface area are you projecting on and what space is available for the projector to be mounted.
Once you have decided what size image you would like and where you would like to project to you can access what space you have for throw distance which will help you decide where to place the projector and which projector would be best suited for you application. Important things to consider when purchasing your projector is SVGA, XGA or 1080P, Lumens or brightness, contrast ration LCD or DLP. There are so many variables when it comes to projection depending on your application, if you have a dedicated darkened cinema room then typicaly a high resolution low lumens unit would be best suted. If your in an office enviroment then a lower resolution and hogher lumens would be more appropriate. If your unsure then seek professional advise.

example

If you wanted to project a 7ft / 210cm wide image onto a projection screen and had a mximum throw distance of 3m from the screen to the furthest point at which you could mount the projector then you would have a lense ration of 1 : 1.42, so long as your projector can achieve this ratio through its optical zoom then you all set.
for instance if your lense ration on you projector was 1.2 to 1.8 then this would be fine and you projector could be mounted from 2.52m to 3.78m
In short you times your screen width by you lense ratio i,e 210 x 1.2 or 1.8

Now that you have your screen size, the available area for you projector to be mounted you need to begin to think about the centre line. The centre line is in fact the centre of the projection area and this needs to be in line with the centre of you lense to avoid any horizontal keystone correction. In most cases the lense is not located in the centre of the projector so the projector will need to be moved either to the left or right of the centre line depending on what side the lense is on. You should take a measurement from the centre of your ceiling plate that holds the projector and the centre of the lense, use this measurement to offset the projector on the centre line. You should then mark up your projector mount ceiling plate and fix securely using the appropriate fixings.
Once you projector is secured to the ceiling safely you can run in it. Position the image as best you can to the projection area and nip your projector mount securing fixing up so just to hold the position, you can them make any small alterations to the position zoom and focus before securing the mount in place. At this point now you may need to make some vertical keystone correction or lense shift so that you are projecting a square image free from the trapezoid effet. Where ever possible try to use lense shift over keystone correction as it does not cause such degradation in image quality.

Right so you Projector and screen is up the last thing to consider is cabling and how you wish to run the cables back to your AV equipment. There are two main choices here either the cables run in surface mounted cable cover or the professionals come in and conceal all you cabling for the most minimal look with the least impact on the current aesthetics of your room.

Now you’re there I hope you enjoy your new projection system and hope I have been of some help. If you feel that you would benefit from a professional installation service please follow the links in the resource box.

Tips For Buying Sanyo Projector Lamps

by AV-1

Tips For Buying Sanyo Projector Lamps

When you think of good quality projectors in the market a name that comes up in everybody’s mind is Sanyo. Sanyo projectors have made their presence felt among many by offering a range of products such as home theatre/cinema projectors, digital projectors, LCD projectors, and portable multimedia projectors.

The Sanyo projector bulb is an important part of the projector. The high quality control involved in the pressurization of the bulb and calibration of the ballasts makes the Sanyo projector bulb maintain their high quality.

Earlier when people needed to buy replacement Sanyo projector lamps they had to buy it only from the manufacturer. Anyone looking to replace their projector bulbs had to wait for a long time until online suppliers came into being. When you go for online shopping of a Sanyo projector lamp, the authorization of the dealer must be checked for, in order to avoid ending up buying fake products. The price of the projector bulb should also be taken into consideration since many online shopping websites offer fake products at a cheaper price.

BulbToGo offers Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products. These products are equivalent to the manufacturer’s original products in quality, but have a different name. They make use of the blueprints provided by the original manufacture. A popular brand like Osram manufacturing the OEM lamps for your Sanyo projector is available at BulbToGo. By choosing BulbToGo you can order the Sanyo projector lamps for your Sanyo projector. The other advantage of shopping at BulbToGo is that they offer only the bulb which can be bought and inserted into the housing in your projector.

Great Tips to Troubleshoot Your Epson Projector

by steveyb

Great Tips to Troubleshoot Your Epson Projector

Having the projector will help the business to get more done and also will give the clients a good look at what you should offer. With your Epson projector in the place, you will easily show the data from the computer, laptop, television or even other input device on a wall or screen, it also helps the customers and will-be customers visualize the products. Epson projector is normally quite reliable, but it will be important for the business owners in knowing the best way to fix them when there something goes wrong.

For the first step that you should be done is that you should look at an indicator lights on your Epson projector. The indicator lights will tell you about the unit and also help to determine the source of your problem. If you see the orange indicator light, so there will be a temperature problem. If the light will be flashing orange, so the unit will also be becoming too hot, then, when an orange light will be steady, your projector has shut down in order to avoid damage from overheating. The red light will mean the lamp is burned out or even defective.

For the second step, you should check in order to ensure that the projector will be not in the standby mode if there is no image on a screen. After that, press a standby button in order to wake up your projector. If a video from the computer is still not reflecting on a projector screen, you need to connect the external monitor to the computer in order to ensure that you have great video from the computer. If there is great video from the computer, you should remove a monitor cable from your projector and also the PC, and after that firmly reattach them. Sometimes a cable will come loose that causes your projector to lose a signal.

Tips for buying the perfect projector

Shopping for a projector may sound easy, given the number of projectors available in the market. From LCD projectors and DLP projectors to laser projectors and presentation projectors, you have plenty to choose from. But choosing the perfect projector for our needs is not as easy as it sounds. Here are a few projector buying tips that will help you get the right one for you.

The quality of the image is the first aspect to be taken into consideration when buying a projector. Digital Light Processing (DLT) projectors provide images with better quality than LCD projectors. Their high contrast ratio lends depth to the picture. Choose a projector with a contrast ratio of 500:1 or more.

The brightness of the projector lamp comes next in the list of projector buying tips. The brightness, also called as lumen intensity, is not the same in all projectors. Projectors that come cheap use low intensity projector lamps, compromise on the brightness. If do not want this, then buy a projector with a higher lumen intensity as well as higher native resolution. For optimal image quality, projectors with a 1024 x 768 native resolution and 2,000 ANSI Lumens brightness will be ideal.

Size and weight also need to be considered before you pick the projector. Choose a light weight projector, which does not weigh more than 6 lbs. for easy portability Check whether the projector accepts all the signals that you want to provide it with because projectors of the highest quality alone support high-resolution VGA signals.

You may need to replace the projector lamp after a period of time even in the best projector. To buy the highest quality projector replacement lamps, BulbToGo is the right destination.

Tips In Choosing The Multimedia Projector That Is Right For Your Business

If you own or work for a business, chances are that you regularly hold or participate in meetings. These meetings would normally include presentations, e.g., of reports, product concepts, issues for discussion and/or decision making, and other business-related topics. These presentations are more effectively done with the help of a piece of equipment that is fast becoming a standard fixture in most businesses: the multimedia projector.

Thanks to modern technology, the multimedia projector has shrunk in size and is much lighter than it’s “ancestors”, yet is many times more powerful and feature packed. What is even better is that this superiority comes with a price tag that is a mere fraction of what the bulkier, higher maintenance and less user-friendly predecessors used to cost. With the presence of several competitors, these prices are destined to decline even more. No wonder then that even a small business can afford to have one.

What are the things you need to consider when investing on a multimedia projector? Consider the following factors:

• Size of venue – The size of the venue of your regular meetings gives you an idea of the minimum brightness (measured in ANSI Lumens. One lumen is the equivalent in brightness of one candle) that you would need for your multimedia projector. The bigger the venue, the bigger the screen size needed. The bigger the screen size, the farther away the multimedia projector needs to be located to achieve it. And the farther away the projector is the brighter it should be in order to display sharp images even during full-lit conditions. As a rule of thumb, do not consider buying a multimedia projector that delivers less than 500 ANSI lumens unless you want to be extremely selective as to where it will be used.

• Resolution Requirements – Previously, pixel resolution was a premium for an old projector, with the standard being a mere 800×600 pixels (VGA). This limited the enlargement that a projector could “throw” to the screen. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to have XGA (1024×768 pixels) resolution in a practically-priced multimedia projector. Some already have WXGA widescreen XGA which allows projection of a movie in a reasonably-sized room for private entertainment! Normally, however, XGA will do nicely for most of your requirements.

• Technology – There are currently three multimedia projector technologies currently available:

o LCD (liquid crystal display) is the established technology used by most of the leading manufacturers.

o DLP (digital light processing) is a newer technology used on some of the smallest, lightest projectors currently available. While LCD gives clearer still images, DLP provides smoother video images.

o LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology uses liquid crystals on glass panels, and light passes through the LCD panels to the lens.

There are several suppliers of multimedia projectors available, both of the single and multiple brand varieties. It is advisable that you canvass for the equipment that best suits your requirements before making a final purchase decision. You will, therefore, need to know what it is that you really need before you go out start formal canvassing.

The Top 5 Tips For Buying A Home Theater System

If you have decided to join the rush to get into home theater you have a lot of homework to do to choose wisely, but the rewards will certainly be more than worth it. Just imagine enjoying movie theater quality sound and video right in your own home whenever you want. That’s what home theater systems offer folks these days, so here are the top 5 tips for buying a home theater system:

1. Above all else, do your homework. Read some of the reviews online and get a feel for what is out there and available within your price range. You can find plenty of product reviews on Amazon and at online electronics retailers that can help you get familiar with each manufacturer and what they offer. Don’t rush this part of the process as you need to be an educated consumer, and electronics equipment takes a little getting used to since they use terms and expressions that you just won’t find anywhere else.

2. Before you actually go shopping, sketch out your room and try to lay out where you want everything to fit. Where do you want the entertainment center including the TV to be situated? How does that affect the seating arrangement that you want? How about the speaker system, should they be wall or ceiling mounted, or free standing? How are you going to run the wires for the speakers so that they aren’t hanging out all over the place? Knowing the answers to these questions in advance can save a lot of backtracking later on.

3. Buying a home theater system should be preceded by arranging a demo for every system that you are considering. Even if you decide to buy online to get the best price, be sure to listen to the system first if you can. When you do, bring along a movie and/or CDs that you are very familiar with and represents entertainment that you like to enjoy, and use it as the demo. That will give you a more accurate feel for how well the home theater system will sound when you actually use it at home.

4. Determine how many speakers that you want to use for surround sound. These days the most common surround sound speaker setup is called 5.1 which means that you use 6 speakers including the subwoofer to create surround sound. But there are even newer formats that have been introduced called 6.1 and 7.1 and they allow you to use up to seven channels of speaker sound besides the subwoofer for low bass. This can be incredibly impressive, but also costs more and requires that you have the necessary equipment to power and decode these advanced formats.

5. Take your time and don’t rush through any part of the decision making process. This equipment is not cheap and it will be difficult to undo a wrong decision, especially if you have already run speaker wires and so forth. So don’t let anyone rush you or put you under pressure to buy. Shop around and find the system that stands out from the others.

If you follow the tips above it will help you learn all that you need to know to buy a home theater system that fits your budget and sounds great too.

Find out more about surround sound setup and surround sound installation by visiting our Home Theater website.
